Sunday morning, websites building
One Sunday morning to ship LAKAN and migrate Praktikal off Squarespace — what Astro, Keystatic, Cloudflare Pages, and Claude Code unlock for marketing.
One of the things I wanted to do in my (short) spare time while we wait for baby #2 is try out some new tech I’ve been hearing about. I’ve been using Claude Code for almost a year now, and I kept hearing you can build and edit entire websites with essentially a phrase or two.
So that’s what I did over one short Sunday morning — about an hour, laptop in hand. I wanted to see how easy it actually is to wire up Astro, Keystatic, Cloudflare Pages, and Claude Code.
Turns out, not hard at all.
Here are literally the steps I took to build LAKAN — a draft page for my friend Chip’s new venture:
- Opened Claude Code from my remote terminal.
- Spun up a new repo.
- Dropped in the LAKAN brand book and gave it one instruction: “Build this into a premium website. Use your front-end design skill.”
- Waited a few minutes, then pointed the nameserver at Cloudflare.
- Live.
LAKAN, live at lkn.ph — built in about an hour on a Sunday morning.
OK, obviously there was a bit more to it than five lines. I know my way around terminals, APIs, and web servers. I also had a full brand design generated by Claude beforehand — what I wanted the site to look like, stand for, aim at.
But the point stands. It’s unbelievably easy to build a website now. Easy enough that I took the time I’d saved and migrated Praktikal off Squarespace into Astro too, with Keystatic as the CMS. That one took around 15 minutes — export the Squarespace and Substack blogs, set rel=canonical to the old posts, done.
Praktikal, now on Astro + Keystatic.
Building websites has been a solved problem for a long time. So have programmatic ones.
What’s more interesting to me is the editing. The bane of a lot of SEO work is relying on implementation teams or web designers to make small, regular changes — meta titles, internal links, schema tweaks. It’s not hard, just laborious. And on bigger teams, takes weeks due to priorities, sprints etc. With Claude + Astro, it basically takes a few minutes. Dip in CTR and we can spin up experiments quickly with a few keystrokes.
May not sound that exciting, but for my marketing heart it’s pretty amazing.
This is still early. Cloudflare only acquired Astro back in January, and the full Astro + Cloudflare + AI-agent stack is still shaking out. I don’t know yet how well this holds up for SEO — I’m testing that now. But what it unlocks for marketing is what I’m here for.
